Drs. Ranelle Brew of Parasol and Este Geraghty of Esri presented at the American Public Health Association (APHA) in November, 2025. Their presentation, Breaking Barriers: Innovative Public-Private Collaborations Leveraging Data Visualization to Strengthen Academic Public Health, presented case studies and techniques for creative data visualization and decision making. They described the value of funded public-private partnerships for enhancing public health preparedness and response through collaboration, transparency, and shared expertise. They shared how the use case of GIS is an example of how public-private collaborations can be transformative in addressing public health challenges. Finally, they identified workforce development initiatives, including GIS training and curriculum, that equip future public health professionals with essential informatics skills to address emerging health challenges.
